Sorry for the long delay. Took me a day to figure out how to upload such large content on Blogger and YouTube via the Flip. Got it set now.
Okay, so I'll set the stage. I actually had heart palpitations before the show. I knew it wasn't going to live up to the All For You tour, but there was still something in the air that said this was something special. We had a good Prime Rib Sunday dinner at the House of Parliament. Headed down to the ACC and actually got parking in my favorite lot by the Goodlife. Good omen.
Get to the ACC and by the way, Can't WAIT for Raptor season to start. LL Cool J is already on stage, and I'm not really enthused. We have to ask 17 ushers where our seats are, no lie, it was like snaking down to the VI VI VIP. So we take one look at the stage, and it's extended into the audience in a box. Our seats, right INSIDE the box. Sweet-Ass. I didn't realize, but LL has hits. he played most of the top hitmakers in his catalogue, and actually did not take his shirt completely off. I guess that's what happens when you have a clothing line for the family available at Sears.
Janet herself, still SO Amazing. 40-something years old, and still kickin ass. Her choreography has not changed over the last 20 years, no lie! The silly part is, her 20 year old choreography still beats 85% of the stuff that's out there today! I was sitting right beside this dude who knew every move to the oldie songs, just as I knew EVERY word singing like highschool girl! Forgive the Blair Witchness of my Flip Video reels, but I was jumping up and down and screaming at the top of my lungs like I needed a free tee shirt!
Absolutely legendary show. She played most of the catalogue, and subbed in new tracks for some of the older ones that fell off. One thing missing, Kelly Konno! Seven dudes, two girls, three band members, you knew something was just not right. I guess the production had to be trimmed down a bit, but it was just a tad bit off with no Kelly Konno! To be sitting inside the box and having the show go off all around you, I almost burst into tears, getting that close to JJ's booty! Gil Duldulao did a great job at taking over the choreography. Boyes, everytime I hear "All For You" I can't help but giggle at the memory of you guys performing that routine, over and over and over and over! :)
Witnessing a living legend show off the mastery of her craft was just amazing! Seeing the look on people's faces I'm sure they were thinking the same thing. Mind you, sitting inside that box, only the truest of die hard Janet fans were allowed in. About 9 costume changes, and all of them were Fabuloso!! The girls in front of us knew one of the background dancers, and the guy beside me knew all the moves. Good times!
So far this year, Jay-Z/Mary J Blige, Kanye/Pharell/Rihanna/Lupe and Glow in the Dark, Nas, KRS One, Alicia Keys, this show ties with Jiggaman as concert of the year! Sorry Jay, just being inside the circle, Janet did more for her VI's than your show. Your show was on point, her's was just that much better. Also just the fact that the stage setup was unexpected put it over the top. Sitting Row 3 for Jay-Z and Mary...that was unforgettable. This year was a good being spoiled for shows though.
Get Janet says Janet JJ went to the hospital on Monday. Get well soon JJ!
All being said, great show, great legendary performer. Glad as heck that I invested in my new Flip Video! Sorry again for the vertigo you may have gotten while watching! Seriously, I haven't had such a good time at a show like this since Feb! Long Time, Ha! My only regrets are that I didn't have a second Flip, or I would have recorded the whole dang show! :) People around me even asked me for my weblink so they could see what I got! Hilarious. I still have TONS of still photos, TONS from the digicam, but I didn't want them stolen off of here, so I'll stick with the Flip Videos. Other regrets: no confetti at the end, tee shirts sucked as usual at all the concerts, and the VIP bracelets were Dollar Store specials. Cutbacks are happening in all industries...indeed! Peace, Love, and Janet Jackson.
Song of the Day: Together Again - Janet Jackson
This is going to played at my funeral!
