I checked out GetJanet's new Tuesday nights at Reign. Opening night and the place was jumpin, a bit of a buzz about seeing and being seen. A few notes occurred to me: Kids these days have NO IDEA about how to DJ nor do they actually spin or cut and mix anymore. True spinning is a lost art! Female bartenders can sometimes have too much fun (one actually fell down after too many tequila shots)! NOBODY dances at TDot clubs anymore. This city needs a real grown-folks hangout for such a big population of 30 somethings. Lastly, "I'm too old for this stuff!!!"

NHL trade deadline came and went. Not really any theatrics, except that why does the Trade Deadline get more coverage than the All Star Game?? I mean, the AS Game showcases the league's Best, correct? There was more networks, more pundits, more opinions, more so-called experts, it was maddening! By the way, Habs suck!

I was one of the Millions who lost my hotmail access all day today. Boo! Ever wonder what would happen if technology just one day collapsed on itself? I mean internet, cell phone, blackberry, digital cable, radio, what if a big-ass electromagnet in the sky just came and erased all technology? Weird, but cool. It's not as far away as you think, as some Flordians were the guinea pigs. Weird.

The 80th Academy Awards were tonight. Highlites include: Kristin Chenoweth and here too, Seth Rogen's Date, Keri Russell, and that's about it...Really. It's always been amazing to me how much Americans spend and go through for their Hollyhood worship. From the dress up, to the parties, to the gift lounge, I never understood the fascination with these folks. Jon Stewart did a great job, but a lackluster show, and really lackluster movie season if you think about it. Bring on Harold and Kumar 2.

Event of the day: Drove out to Brampton to see the brand new grand opening of PetSmart out there to get Leo his water fountain. The other PetSmart in our area has been out of them for a month, and I was beginning to think they got discontinued. Turns out there were clowns (No idea why), freebies (yay!), and yes, two water fountains left. So the hour long drive through head offices (EB, Nestle, Best Buy, Future Shop, Winners, The Airport) was worth it. Thank the lawd I don't have to work up there! :) In case you were wondering, all Leo did all day was paw at the water, and drink from his old bowl. Figures.

Went to go see The Spiderwick Chronicles the other day. It was actually surprisingly well done! They put alot more into it than Bridge to Terabithia, and it wasn't as boring as Narnia. The only letdown in the ending was the Mom being able to see what was going on without the special stone, but I won't spoil it for you! Bonus points if you can find Seth Rogen in the movie!! All in all, worth the $10! Thmbs Up!

The Dukies took another one on the chin yesterday to Miami. Both conference losses this year have been on the road. We are no longer in sole possession of the top spot in the ACC. First loss to Miami in 45 yrs, I guess there really is a first time for everything. Coach better find a way to stop this spiral, March Madness is right around the corner!!!
So the NBA Trade Deadline came and went. The Raps ended up losing Juan Dixon (good riddance) for Primo Brezec. I say, great deal considering Juan did not want to be here, Colangelo had few options of players to deal and players that were appealing, priority number one is re-signing key contracts in the off-season, priority number two is start to build smart through the draft. Brezec hasnt' done much this year in Detroit, but for his career averages 50% from the field, 71% from FT, 4 boards, and he's a seven footer. Let's see if Juan even gets off the bench in Detroit, bonne chance!!
The other big deal of the day was Cleveland getting Ben Wallace, and Wally's World. I don't mind Cleveland TRYING to get better, but I really don't understand what you're going to do with Big Ben AND Big Zee in the middle, and Wally is just a headcase who hopefully doesn't distract the chemistry too much. I say, not a good deal for the Cavs, but we'll see once April comes around.

All Star Sunday, Viva Las Begas!!

The 57th Annual NBA All Star game did not disappoint. Just one year ago I was on the floor at The Hotel at Mandalay praying for my own bed at home. 10 days on the road and 7th day in Vegas, I was tapping out, I had enough. The craziness, the cabs, the lobbies, the chaos. Good to hear there was minimal drama in N'Orleans this year. The league's best showcased all that it had to offer. Interesting seeing Chris Bosh start beside Dwight Howard, imagine THAT on your roster? Sorry, correction, Alyssa Milano and Gabrielle Union, imagine THAT on your roster?? The NBA did well for all the Katrina victims and such, let's hope that they pull out of all this soon enough.
Congrats to the EAST who showed that no matter how good your records are, the talent still stands out!
Exactly why Sacramento is full of trash. Disciplinary action? What about just firing the whole bunch for being trash and send a precedent to the rest of the league?
