The Lakershow just managed to edge out the Spurs and take a 3-1 series lead in the Wild Wild Western Conference. Looked like the Spurs just ran out of gas, and maybe even hit the wall in these playoffs. Robo Duncan played pretty much the whole game, and when Ginobili wasn't hitting shots, Barry did his best to pick up the slack, but the Lakershow was just too deep and just better enough to come away with the win. Hopefully they don't get a week's rest as the East looks for who's going to emerge as the champs there.

The Spurs finally started to make a series worth watching. The Spurs handled the Lakers in San Antone to put the series at 2-1 for L.A. Robo-Duncan put in 22-21-5 and 1 block for good measure. Black Mamba had 30, and showed that he should stick to the hardcourt, and not jumping over pools of snakes while in the playoffs.

The Children's Place actually went up 33% in Q1 by shedding the Disney Store deficits. Turned out to be a smart move after all. The Gap also boosted up Q1 profits by 40% by cutting costs. Cost cutting usually means taking some quality out of the product so stay leery. I haven't been into a Gap nor Old Navy in a few years. Looks like a few retailers are starting to turn things around and clean up, but the journey back to the plus side is going to be a long one!! Hang in there, shoppers!

Glow In the Dark Tour 2008

Got the chance to see the Kanye West Glow In the Dark Tour with Rihanna, N.E.R.D., and Lupe Fiasco. It DID make itself a contender for concert of the year, but due to some certain conditions, it came a very close second place. First off, it was cold as winter, there was NO Alcohol, too many eleventeen year olds, and there was pigeon doo-doo all over the seats. As for the upside, Kanye's set design was INSANE, being a producer, he had sick sick SICK beats on all his remixed hits, and the only costume change he did (if it really counted) was to put on a leather jacket because it was so DAMN cold outside! Definitely should have had it in the ACC (I'm not sure why they didn't). I've had the chance to see Kanye live on his own, twice opening for Usher, and once just at the Kool Haus before he was any big. This is definitely a good graduation/evolution/progression to see him arrive. Even got a chance to see his Air Yeezy's glowing in the dark, good look Ye. Ri-Ri held her own, but is still not ready to headline a full show by herself. N.E.R.D. was insane, and it was fun to watch all the younger white kids hold up their ROC signs instead of the Star Trak signs. We missed Lupe because of the insane Toronto FC traffic there also, but he DID come back on for his verse on Touch the Sky with Kanye. Highlites below:

School Me Once, School Me Twice, Third Time I Was Done...

The Celtics kicked off the Conference Finals by teaching the Pistons about Home Court at the Gardens. Chauncey Billups was just plain bad for the Pistons, and he may not be fully recovered from his hamstring injury. Regardless, the Pistons had few answers for KG who put in 29-9-4. The Celts remain undefeated at home through these playoffs, and winless on the road! Jekyll and Hyde.
Congrats to the Chicago Bulls who won the first pick in this year's NBA Draft Lottery. This gives a very bad underachieving team a chance to win next year. Sucks that this makes the East that much more stronger for the Raptors to have to contend with.

The Spurs were the last team to make it to the 2008 NBA Semi Finals. The Hornets put up a great fight, but the experience of the Spurs just ran them over in Game Seven. Look for the Hornets to tweak some upgrades in the off-season, and they should come back to rule the West again! We'll see how the Spurs fare against the LakerShow, but the way that Kobe and Gasol are playing, I wouldn't bet against them!!

I Still Heart NYC (SoHo)!

The Celtics made sure that the Cavs did not make any further into the NBA Playoffs by winning their Game 7. True to form, the Celts won every home game they've played in the series. Despite 45 from LeBron, PP34 put in 41 of his own as the Celtics won by five. The Celtics will host the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Congrats to the Penguins, and Sid the Kid who made into the NHL Finals by winning against the Flyers 4 games to 1. Hopefully the Pens will face the Red Wings to have a marketable NHL Finals, however Dallas seems to be putting up quite the fight.
Abercrombie is up a modest 3.4% for Q1. Alot better than seeing some of the fugly numbers we have so far this year!! Urban Outfitters claims a Q1 up 44.9%. A decrease in markdowns, combined with a clear positioning strategy, means better buys, better inventory, better turns, hence 45% increase in profit. Makes sense on paper, huh?

The Cavaliers pushed the Celtics to a second straight Seventh game in these playoffs. The Celts again failed to win a single game on the road this year. Whatever Doc Rivers is putting in their water for the road games, switch it up! Do SOMEthing different! What if they switched to the ugly-ass black jerseys?? The Lakershow became the second team into the NBA Semifinals as they downed the Jazz 4-2. Utah put up a good fight, but just didn't have an answer for the MVP et al. Kobe Beef put up 34-8-6, not bad, not great, but good enough. Two game sevens on Sunday and Monday should be fun to watch!!

Those are some good fantasy points! The Lakershow "cruised" to a victory in Game 5 against the Jazz. Kobe didn't take a field goal in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers still outscored the Jazz 30-23 in the final frame. The Jazz are at home next, in a must-win.

The Hornets gave the Spurs a complete headache, winning at home to go up 3-2 in their series. David West stepped up putting in 38 points, 14 boards, 5 assists, 5 blocks, and 2 steals for good measure! Who's got him on their fantasy team?? The defending champs will have to win two in a row to keep their title defense hopes alive! It's ok though, I don't mind watching the Honeybees for another three weeks! :)

The Celts are unexplicably HORRID on the road this year, after only losing 5 games on the road in the regular season! What's up with the Jekyll and Hyde??
