Today's was Michael Jackson's funeral/Tribute concert at the Staples Center. I don't do well at Funerals. I've seen way too many funerals in my lifetime than I care to remember. The funny thing about LIFE, no matter what it throws your way, good or bad, it's what we learn, what we take away from it all that counts. It's been a stroke of good blessings that I've lost so many important people in my life because it has taught me that life is Precious. We only get one take. We Must enjoy this life, this day, this moment as much as we can! I do agree with celebrations of people's lives, and the good times and good lessons that were learned while they were with us. I only get dismayed because I no longer have more time to spend with those people that have passed, and it saddens me that there is still more that people could do with their lives.
Now, this does NOT mean that we all go wrecklessly living like savages, satisfying our ego's and ID's. It does mean that we should eat and be merry, within reason. We should enjoy what life has to offer to us, without detrimenting others. We should reach for the stars, without holding back our brothers and sisters. Know that what we do in life also has consequences and repercussions, rewards and effects. Don't be afraid to stop and smell the roses. Find yourself, be yourselves.
Those who know me, know that I like to make jokes. I like to enjoy laughter, the kind of laughter that comes from your belly, the kind of laughter and enjoyment that makes your cheeks hurt. The kind of laughter that when you're sitting staring at the wall, you remember and it makes you laugh all over again. People are funny. Some people get it, some don't. I don't hate you if you don't get it, I pity you. If you like to be serious more often than not, that is your choice, your prerogative, your doom. Have fun with your seriousness. Try it, go ahead, try it. What is seriousness going to get you? Money, Power, Fear, Wrinkles? Meh, have it, take it, I will have the memories. The joyous memories of life. The life that was a gift, and the gift that will be cherished with opportunity, with love, with laughter. When it's time for my card to get punched, I want to have the peace of mind knowing that I did the best I could to take in all of the best that life has to offer. Good family, good friends, True Friends, good people, good food, good drink, Good Experiences, good memories, good times.
If there's one thing that my Baby Daughter is going to learn it's all of the above.
Live Love Laugh Learn. (I've been saying it since Grad '93, check your yearbooks!)
