Cherish the Weekends!! While Saturday was busy and chocked full of action, Sunday was the very first LAZY Sunday since we've been in the new place. I'd say 90% of the unpacking is done (most of what's left is Capital M's!) and I still have some leftover stuff to either donate to Charity or Sell Off in a "parking lot sale". Capital M has this idea that I could sell off some gear in a Garage Sale atmosphere but in a Parking Lot Sale. I told her to organize it, otherwise, I'm giving it to charity.
We decided to hit Boom a bit earlier for Brunch today, and our plan backfired. There was construction all over St Clair West, and the lineup was outrageous. Homee's friendliness and Loyalty pays off! The Hostess noticed us and remembered us as "regulars", so she shuffled us ahead of a few people, and we got seated right in the window!! SCORE!!
Capital M was craving for the Ultimate Crunchy French Toast which she's never ordered before (but I have!): Don't mess with a pregnant lady who's craving French Toast rolled in Corn Flakes, covered in chocolate sauce and ice cream, and yes, she IS pouring syrup all over it also. I hope my Baby enjoys it all too!!
I had one of my two regulars, the Benny Boom: Can't go wrong with Smoked Salmon, Spinach, Hollandaise Sauce, and Frites!
Total Carnage: If that grapefruit peel was edible, it might have disappeared also. I wish I had a time stamp on these pics, it felt like it was somewhere around 2-3 minutes!! What's worse, we went next door to the Cupcakery and ordered some Red Velvet cupcakes, Strawberry and Lemon, and Black Forest cupcakes!! Total Carnage!
I wanted to thank all of you who gave your good thoughts and support for myself and my family with my Uncle Chummy's passing, via this blog or on my Twitter. For those of you who are curious, this is my Uncle Chummy. Part time Pimp, Part time Gangster, Full time Prankster. I guess it kinda runs in my family!! RIP Uncle Chummy.
FYI, my Uncle passed away from Emphysema. If you think you're NOT going to get it or lung cancer..... The choice is your's. I'm not gonna preach, I'm just sayin.....
Everyone's getting GEEKED over what Sasha Baron Cohen did to Eminem at the MTV Video Awards: If you ask me, the fact that Em didn't punch dude right in the face or the ballz tells me that it was staged. Meh. MTV2009 = Irrelevant. Meh.
The LolCatz strike again: I totally think Leo would do this to our Baby Girl!
Happy Bday to the man with the Master Plan! Sorry I missed the big Pah-Tay, but Happy Bday, BIG C!
For the Fellas, here's a great way to kick off your week: LUSTING: Adriana Lima!! Raaawwwrr!!
Definitely the busiest Saturday in the new place. Got the chance to do laundry in the new digs. Interesting experience: I didn't have to put on a jacket, didn't have to strut down the sidewalk to the Laundrymat, and didn't have to worry about if it was going to rain or not. In-building laundy, oh how I miss those days in Vancity! Next stop, In HOUSE laundry! Of course, I made some new friends at the in-building laundry! We'll see how that all pans out. Laundry got done in record time 1 hour 45 mins. Shweet.
I even tried my hand at vaccuuming the new spot. The benefit to having so much more new space is that we have all this space. The drawback, cleaning is such a byatch! It's all good though. I figure that when babygirl is born and crawling, I can just attach some Swiffers to her hands and knees and she can go dusting all around the place wherever she crawls!!
Then I went to check out the OffShoot Sample Sale at Toika. The Sale started at 10am, but I showed up around 12:30. Most everything was already picked over, so most people decided to gather and chill outside. It was definitely a Toronto Clothing industry who's who there! Add to that, it was Big C's Bday!!
The infamous Marcus Troy on the right. "I'm on some other sh*t, I'm dressed in all black!"
Another cool thing about knowing Toronto's who's-who: Opportunities. World Famous photographer Steve Carty was around to promote his newest book "Positives".
There barely isn't anyone worth talking about that Carty hasn't photographed in the world!! Check out his site, the roster, the design, the layout, everything is quite impressive!! Cop a copy of his book if you can. They're only limited to 500 in total!
Did I read this right?? Wow!!
Proof: I got 27/500!! Shweeeeeeeeeet!!! Thanks for the Love, Carty! Keep on keepin' On!
Then I had to pick up Capital M from work, head over to Canadian Tire to pick up the stuff that Ikea didn't have last weekend, put it all together (I hate Ikea and Lego furniture these days), and then go pick up the Brother In Law from the Airport because he's too cheap to afford the $40 cab ride!! Argh. Turns out they lost his luggage on a connecting flight from Denver, and we ended up waiting an hour and half for him to come out of customs and baggage claim!! Crap crap crap crap crap! At least there was one great thing to help end the day..... My Good Friend the Grey Goose! :)
Finally, another Friday has arrived! It's come to the point where it just drives me crazy trying to get to quittin time on Friday and make it to Happy Hour at a decent time so I can get a good SEAT! Ah well, I will find a way to keep enjoying this upcoming summer! I always find a way!
It was Muna's Birthday on Thursday (Happy Belated!) and so we decided to go to Aji Sai All You Can Eat Sushi for her Bday. Turns out that Aji Sai had a reservation for 20 people (WTF?) and they couldn't take our party of 8, so we decided to introduce her to Spring Rolls in the Atrium on Bay. We called to make a rezzo, but they said that they don't take rezzo's on Fridays or Saturdays. Ok, cool, no problem, we decided to try to show up early. SO, we show up and they tell us that they can't seat us until at least half our party shows up. Since there was only two of us there, we waited until we had 4, and then they told us that they don't have a table for us just yet, and if we'd like to wait, they would give us the next big table. We waited for half an hour, all of us had arrived by then, and then she tells us that there is a table available. Just when we get up to go into the restaurant, the manager explains that there was a mixup and that they had already given away that table. Everyone got SO pissed off, so we decided to screw the idea of Spring Rolls and headed on over to Milestones on top of the AMC movie theaters on Dundas. Safe to say, Spring Rolls is now on the BOYCOTT list. Let me tell you, the service at Milestones was AWESOME! I'm sorry that I didn't get the host's name, but he was phenomenal! I pleaded my case professionally and calmly, and they had our party of 8 seated in 15 mins, despite their rezzo list being full, a Friday night in the heart of downtown, and last minute no less! Good Karma Vibes all around!! So already off to a bad start for the night, the Double Grey Goose's were flowing like tea at DimSum!!
I'm still trying to figure out what the significance of this Egg Thingy is at the front reception of Milestones.
I dunno why this picture is my camers. So random. I think Capital M was getting trigger-happy taking these random shots.
Speaking of Trigger-Happy, that's Capital M behind the camera, My Twitter on my Bberry in the middle, the Grey Goose is on the left, and my Pint of Keith's is on the right. My silly face is in the middle. Happy Bday Muna!!
Some disturbing news came my way last night. My pops emailed me to tell the whole family that his brother (my uncle) was found dead in his bed in his apartment last night (Wednesday night). Wow. Uncle Chummy was one of my favorite uncles. Although I am not really that close to anyone on my dad's side of the family, Uncle Chummy always like my brother and I. He treated us very well, and even loved to joke around and have drinks with us. One of my favorite memories of Uncle Chummy is when we had our family reunion on my dad's side in Vancouver. Everyone had a "free" day and most people went to the Aquarium, or the Museum, but Uncle Chummy wanted to hit the Casino!! So we went to the Casino on Broadway and he spent the entire day there! When he called us to pick him up, he gave us $50 from his winnings, and said, "Whatever you do, don't tell your dad!" Hahaha! Uncle Chummy did alot of other good things like bringing in Philippino singers and chorus groups from the Philippines to tour across the US. He worked for Sony records for a little while in NY also. He was the one who introduced me to Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon), Pops Fernandez, and Regine Velasquez. Uncle Chummy was suffering from Emphysema as a result of years and years of smoking. He was not in any pain when he passed away, and he died in his sleep. A note to all you smokers, it will only shorten your time to enjoy life on this planet. Uncle Chummy is survived by his three kids, Audrey, Katrina, and Kevin, and his wife Liza. It's quite sad that out of my Dad's 9 other brothers and sisters, only four of them are alive still. My dad is the youngest of all his siblings. And even he is getting older and older still. Rest in Peace, Uncle Chummy.
It definitely takes such major losses in life to understand fully and appreciate the opportunities we are given. Uncle Chummy was one who helped teach me that when we are in positions to give back, we should always choose to give back.
Song of the Day: You Must Love Me - Jay-Z ft Kelly Price
I love days like today for a few reasons. The rain gets a chance to wash away all the dust and dirt caused by all the construction. The plants get water to become greener. Even better, I get to break out the old-man trench coat, the old shirt and tie, and flex the limits of my hat game with a Kangol/Crocodile/or good ole Stetson Bowler. Everyone at work had their socks knocked off. Half of the young, naive coworkers thought I was going on a job interview, the other half was just not sure what to think about it all, so they went along with the job interview story! I just like to keep them guessing! The best comment of the day, "Wow, you look so OLD! I don't know if I can get used to this look! You look like an old man!" Keep 'em guessing Homee.
Great news for Canadians!! The Flip Mino HD and Flip Ultra HD are NOW AVAILABLE!! So many choices, I'm still not sure which one I wanna pick up! I like the sleekness of the Mino (above), but I like the 2 hour capacity of the Ultra! Either way, I am getting one in HD! Stay Tuned!! Great News INDEED!!
Gotta love the Ninja Kitties: Crouching Kitty, Hidden Dragon!!
Happy Bday Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. She would have been 38 years old today. Tsk tsk tsk. I still say that had she been alive today, and still rapping, she would be better and more Relevant that 3/4ths of the so-called "artists" that are out there today. The angel that was Truly taken from us way too early. God bless, and Rest In Peace.
My boss came back from Vacation today which not only meant that there was more work to be done than normal, but there were more B.S. projects that needed some attention. Excellent. Nothing I like to do better than Arts and Crafts while deadlines are due all around, and Father's Day is right around the corner! *le sigh* At least I still have my Twitter. Everyone at work, even the company itself is stuck on Facebook. As far as I know, I'm the only one in my office on Twitter, and nobody I know there is following me! Phew!
Don't forget, the OffShoot Sample Sale is on Saturday coming up! Be there, or be square!
The LolCats are still the bestest:
And now I leave you fellas with Jessiqa... Meet Jessiqa Pace! Rawr!!
Happy Belated BDay to Minnie Ku! Today also marks the 5 year anniversary of the death of my dear Cousin Cynthia. Cyn was only 30 yrs old when she passed away. It was a horrible accident while she was on vacation in Australia. Two things I will never do in life: Go to Australia, and party by those cheap tiki torches. Basically she was burned by a torch which had tipped over, and they had been using jet fuel to burn them with. The fuel burned her entire back and she passed away from the damage done from them. The establishment that they were at has since gone out of business, and the owner has fled to New Zealand to escape the charges of negligence laid against him. The toughest part to digest is that all of the cousins on my mom's side of the family are so closely knit. We're all only 10 years apart in total, so we were all going through life and it's stages all at the same time! It is the death of the people closest to us that always tends to put life in perspective. This is why I laugh every single day. This is why I cherish my weekends. This is why we only get this one take at this thing we call life. I truly feel that her passing has made me stronger, wiser, and she is still looking over my shoulder. RIP Cyn...
Song of the Day: Hard To Say Goodbye - Boyz II Men
So the big hype for the day was the Season 5 Premiere of Jon and Kate Plus 8. And everyone is asking Homee, "whaddya think?" "WhaDDya Think??" Not that I'm an expert or anything, but I have been watching the show since the pilot. I do have all the DVD's up to Season 4, and have pretty much watched them all in my own mini-marathons. I love the sextuplets and watching them grow up has been so fun. The twins, at least Cara is cool and is going to grow up normal. Mady, she can get a slap in the head veryfast. Jon I can identify with, kind of like my big bro. Jon had the twin girls when he was like 26 I think? Then the sextuplets hit when he's 30 and life is never the same for him again. I identify with Jon a bit more also because he's a west-coast surfer/zen kind of guy. I am a bit jealous of him because I would LOVE to have multiples, and I welcome the challenge and opportunity of parenting my own hockey team! Which brings me to Kate. Sure, part of it is made for TV in terms of the drama she creates and the identity she is on camera. She is controlling, intimidating, she thrives on making Jon look bad and I truly believe that she thinks she is above the entire show on her own. Sure, it's all about the kids, but Kate was the one who wrote both of the books they put out. Kate is the one who is getting invited to speak at engagements. Kate is the one who kicked her own sister off of the show because she was jealous that Beth might start asking for show money revenues! SO, between Season 4 and 5 there was a bit of media controversy. The media caught on to the show, brought it to the masses, and decided to start prying deeper and deeper into the lives of Jon, Kate, and the kids. The funny part is that apart from the show, the public at large really does NOT want to know any more information on them than they're being shown on the show. People don't want to see what's behind closed doors, mostly because these two parents have enough to handle already on their own. Now, they have to worry about paparazzi? Yeeesh. So let's call it "public demand" to know more and see more of Jon and Kate grew to the point where while Kate was on her book tour to promote sales of their (her) new book, Jon was left with all 8 kids on his own. Jon had to quit his job to stay at home full time with the kids. (What a way to take a guy's manhood away from him!) So, with Jon staying at home, and Kate now all of a sudden becoming the bread-winner for the family, Jon is left to question his changed role in the relationship. Sure, he gets to spend more time with his kids and watch them grow up, but then what's next? Kate, oblivious to the fact that she's neglected her life partner, hides behind the smoke screen that "she's doing it all for her kids". I have no issues with that excuse, but it's just that, an excuse. Not to say that any of Jon's actions were justified, but faced with a midlife crisis at the age of 30, there's a major problem there. So, okay I truly believe that Jon cheatedn (with that college chick or two of them!). Let's say worst-case scenario that he did, so what? They split the show revenue evenly I assume, and neither one parent wants to divorce and have to fight for custody of the kids. Add to that, I'm sure there is some stipulation in the show contract that says they have to stay together somewhat. TLC is in a bind also, because they can't just go and change the name of the show, or cut one of the parents out of the show either. TLC is at the mercy of the family and their relationship. So okay, I truly believe that Kate cheated also (with her bodyguard). Worst-case scenario, remember? I didn't quite like how they edited the first episode of Season 5. It looked too much like a sob-story sympathy card for Kate to finally have to watch the kids all alone after her book tour, and then plan the sextuplets birthday party all by herself. I dunno why she felt bad, even if Jon was there, she would have shot down all his ideas and just made him do all the dirty work! What a shocker when they agreed to disagree, and it seems like they are just going to separate!?!?!? Wow, now THAT'S reality TV! Jon has a valid point that the media has NO right to know anything more than what's covered on the TV show. I agree with that. But it's not ALL the media's fault. There is one thing that is missing from this whole equation, and that's the fundamental dysfunction in Jon and Kate's marriage. All the children aside, Jon and Kate have a very unstable relationship. She is overpowering, jealous, germaphobic to a fault, controlling, and vengeful. He is docile, too laid back, at times an ignoramus, and he takes alot for granted. Not to say that there is NO love between the two, but having all these kids and at such an early age, the parents were just not ready, mentally, and relationship-wise they were just not strong enough. Kate made the point that parents of multiples have three times the normal divorce rate because of all the stress. Jon also had a point that had it not be for the media and paparazzi, everything would not be blown out of proportion so badly. Of course their marriage problems still remain, but think of how many new watchers and viewers to the show this media circus has brought them? Either which way, I do wish them all the best. I do know that their kids will be taken care of, and will always be in good hands. I am confident that Jon and Kate will do the right thing for their kids, whichever way it works out between themselves. Yes, as you can tell, I do have a bit of passion for the show, but I really find it intriguing that they've come this far, and the show, it's concept, and the finished product is all still relevant after 5 seasons!
Song of the Day: Two Occasions - The Deele ft Babyface
The unpacking continues and now it seems like eternity! :S I really do think the boxes just mulitply during the dead of night, but I have a handle on all the clothing bags now at least. 30 pairs of jeans, 15 pairs of pants, 50 tee shirts, and 15 button up woven shirts all donated to charity! It was a tearful goodbye, but not because they were leaving me... it was because there was STILL MORE clothes to deal with! All in due time, all in due time folks! Whatever happens, I hope that the immigrant families that inherit my old gear are appreciative and strut it out in style!~ With all the hard work, I decided to take a breather and enjoy the new patio of ours. Great sunny day, nice breeze, and I forgot the sunscreen. What? Sunscreen in Toronto? Yup. Guess who got Lobster Red burnt? *THIS GUY!!* Idiot idiot idiot idiot, now I gotta use lotion so I don't start peeling in the middle of June! Next stop, Ikea. Yikes. Folks, NEVER go to Ikea with a pregnant lady. I gave you FAIR warning! All those hormones, all the indecisions, it's purely maddening. So we had to return some stuff that we picked up yesterday, and then we had to shop around the exact SAME store to see if we missed anything! Uhhhmmm ok? Lucky for me, it was already 6pm and the store was closing! We cashed out, and I had to pick up a Hot Dog cuz I skipped lunch while unpacking. Turns out, I got 2 hot dogs and a cinnamon bun all for $0.50!! That's right! Who said Fitty Cent wasn't worth anything these days! Pure crazy fun times!! To end the whole night, it dawned on me that the No Doubt concert is coming up on June 16th. It also dawned on me that I haven't seen the tickets in all our unpacking! :O Cot Daymmit. We both searched high and low, empty boxes, boxes still full. Nada, nothing, niente, wala, non plus, rien, no-no, crapola. I ran right away to email customer support at Ticketmaster, they did state on their website that either they "might" charge you for a reissued ticket, or you could pick them up at Will Call with ID and a confirmation print out. Stay tuned to see what happens!
I know I'm ages and ages late on this, but I've watched it about 40 times now, and keep laughing! Imagine the possibilities of how many women will be lined up at the chance to Clock Charles Hamilton! This is THEE BEST publicity stunt I've ever seen! This completely Trumps the Cassie shaved head and the Cassie and Ri-Ri Nekkid photos! What a concept! Clock Charles Hamilton in the Jaw, and get a free mixtape!! (courtesy of TheYoungFresh&New)
The LolCats are killing it lately: Cat owners, you know what they talkin about!
Takashi Murakami is still on his takeover of the world: I'm still waiting for the day that I can put one of these in the main entrance of my dream house!
Some big things brewing with the new GI Joe movie coming out: Watch, wait, and see! Stay Tuned!!
GEEKED!! This new Blaster Transformer toy actually plays cassettes, and transforms into a mini-netbook! The USB ports are not functional, but they should have at least made it into a USB drive!! Total retail only $38!! So Geeked!
Song of the Day: I Can't Go For That - Hall and Oates
Today marks the first week anniversary in our new place! I must say that we have done a pretty good job in organizing, the layout of the place, and the convenience of having space to spare is now my favoritest part about the whole place. I've been told that any extra space we have now will GLADLY be taken up by Baby in August, but I say that it's worth it!
I got the chance to hook up for lunch with @bennybing at Churrasco St Clair. The sign does say "The Best Chicken in the City". I dare anyone to tell me any different, and I'll go and give it a try. I've been here for seven years, and it still remains the best so far!
There are 3 seats in the back, so I have to warn y'all that it is a takeout counter. If any of you feel like giving it a try, hit me up, and I'll show you the ropes! And I can give you all the dirty scoop on the neighborhood too!
The local church was doing the first of it's weekend markets in the summertime. They use it to help raise money for the church and it's upkeep like it's new roof. Talking with the lady who organizes it, she says that regular church offerings are down about 20%. Wow, even the bad economic times are hitting the church?? Dam you, Economy!!
Dutch Dreams was lined up as usual. I swear that must be crack, and not powdered sugar they put on it!!
Timmy's was promoting their "Send the kids to camp" donation drive. NO, I ORDERED THE GRANDE DOUBLE DOUBLE, NOT THE TALL ONE!
Then I had to make an Ikea run. Bad idea going to Ikea with a hormonal, stressed out pregnant woman. For future reference, we are not going to Ikea together until after this baby comes out! Seriously, it was a debate for 20 mins about Light Oak or Cherrywood! We didn't even get to the Tablecloth section. And now she wants to repaint the coffee table. Don't get me started about the debate on the patio coffee table and chairs set. I could've just nodded my head and said "yes dear", but not today. Not when it comes to spending loot at Ikea! No way hosay! *le sigh* Fun times, fun times.
We still have about 18 boxes left to unpack. We should be able to get through it in a week or so. I say "we" because only about 8 of them are actually filled with "my" stuff. I'm just sayin... Housewarming Soon Coming!!
Alot of companies like to reward their staff in the summer months by giving them "summer hours" which means that on selected Fridays, they get to take a half day. My particular company gives us 4 Fridays throught June-September to take a Friday half day. (Yes, that's one per month, what Scoundrels!!) So today was my Friday to take off early, and I'm damn glad I did! Another gorgeous days outside, not too hot, not too sunny, JUST RIGHT.
I took advantage of the chance to meet up with @oil_money and @ULPaper from Twitter to have a pint and enjoy the view off of Yonge and Eglinton for the afternoon! Good peoples, good talks, and good BEvERages!! Follow me on Twitter, and hopefully you can come out the next time I get to skip out on work early!! Then I had to jet off to meet the Rogers Phone repair guy to fix our second line in our new apartment. I guess as long as there are boxes of "stuff" and bags of clothes still lingering around, it'll still be the "new" apartment to me. I'm not quite sure when the "newness" drops off and it just becomes the "DeeLuxe Apartment In tha Sky-y-y"!
The poor Rogers guy shows up and expects to do a 10-minute quick fix. Tsk tsk tsk, it ended up having to have him run a whole new wire all up the doors and the walls, over to the bedroom, and install a new outlet jack! An hour and a half later, Capital M offered him a glass of juice! Hey, I already tipped the first guy, and he's the one who screwed up the second line in the first place!
Then we headed over to one of our local favorite neighborhood spots for a Friday Night Date Night dinner. It's not really "Date Night" in the corny, premeditated, usual "date night" sense, but pretty much when neither of us feel like cooking, and don't want take out, we go out about once a week for some neighborhood delights! Besides, it helps keep the economy going, and supports the good folks in our 'hood! Awesome conversation at dinner: (The Neverending Story song by Limahl comes on in the restaurant)
Capital M: OH! I love this song! Homee: (listens) Oh yah. Captial M: This song always reminds me of that movie.... uhmmm Homee: The Neverending Story? Capital M: OH YAH! Doesn't it remind you of the Neverending Story!?!?!? Homee: That's the name of the song you dork! Capital M: Really? I thought it was from that movie! Homee: It IS the THEME song from that Movie! Capital M: (listens) Homee: The chorus says, "The Neverending Story!" Capital M: Shhh, I'm listening!! Homee: You're such a goof! Capital M: (laughter)
Looks like Jon and Kate really DO have problems, and it's NOT all just hype for the new season of the TV show. I do hope the best for them and the kids. Alot of people are taking this to the media in the wrong way. Put yourself in their shoes, you're 26 yrs old, madly in love, wild and wreckless, allofasudden you have twins, followed by sextuplets!! BANG, your whole life changes upside down, how the hell do you afford diapers and food on one household income? And then, a TV show comes to you with a proposal to film your life and times of raising 8 kids. Hmmm, money enough for food, diapers, a new house, car, toys, edumacation funding. PLUS, the TV show would allow them to do things as a family like go to the zoo, the amusement parks, Disneyland, Hawaii, etc, and raise their kids with normal opportunities that they enjoyed while their parents were kids. Sure, there are privacy issues, and the kids are being raise in front of a nation of millions watching, yes that is one sacrifice. I'm sure they maintained creative control over the Editing and what/who goes on air and doesn't. In the end, nobody can really argue, after all, it's THEIR life, it's their TV show. Discovery Network realizes this and treads on eggshells when it comes to this controversy surrounding their marriage and cheating allegations. Let's face it, without Jon and Kate and Blue Planet, Discovery/TLC is left without a hit show. Deadliest Catch is a cool show which always makes me want to go to Red Lobster when I watch it, or at least travel to Newfoundland and have All I Can Eat King Crabs all day. But back to Jon and Kate, my coworker reminded me of an age-old debate about the "Bait and Switch". She says there are basically two types of women out there, the "Bait and Switch" girl and the honest, true to life girl. The Bait and Switch will lure you in with good looks, makeup, fake body parts, revealing clothes, and sexy shoes, but when she has you locked down, it all goes down the toilet, and you are stuck with the Muck. True to life girls are exactly the way they are from the day you meet them to the day you get married and beyond. Ladies, you might deny it. Fellas, you know this is true. The Bait and Switch girls are the Deadliest Catch!! I believe Kate is a Bait and Switch girl. I mean c'mon, she went from Blonde, sexy, wild and crazy, everything that Jon fell in love/lust with, and then she went to brunette, control freak, germaphobe, and if it wasn't for that free tummy tuck she got, I think they would have been divorced after Season Two! Not so say that Jon is really that superficial, but before the kids came, he was completely in LUST. I do wish Jon and Kate well. As young parents faced with tough life decisions, they are ultimately HUMAN. Gone are the days that we put our TV icons and media darlings on a pedestal. These two are making real life tough decisions and it's also on behalf of 8 little children's lives! Stay tuned, the season premiere of Season 5 is on this Monday Night!
If you ask me, I take Jon, Cara, Alexis, Hannah, and Aiden in the split! :P
Song of the Day: Thank You In Advance - Boyz II Men
Sometimes I wonder just who's really reading this. Alot of you out there have shown your support in many ways, and I do thank you. Others have been hiding behind a curtain like the Wizard of Oz, and that's ok with me too, Really, it is ok. Just seeing your hits on my blog keeps me motivated to keep writing, to keep philosophizing, to keep pushing to share the world in a different way, a different light, through different sets of filters. You may not always agree with the words on this page (Most people don't), but at least you have read it, and I hope that you have the open mind enough to understand and respect it. Otherwise, "Welcome to Homee's Joint" was meant to serve as a venue to kick back, relax, take off your shoes, and share in some laughs, some insights, and definitely good times. Thank you readers for hitting the page, sharing the link with your friends and acquaintances, and most of all, continue to be you! Salamat, Arigato, Mmh Goi, Gracias!
The good folks over at OffShoot are having a Sample Sale next weekend! Be sure to save your ducats! TONS of good stuff from Hot Brands!! If you're not sample size, I'm really sorry that you're going to miss out! (That means more for me!!)
I got a chance to skip out work early today because of an "afternoon appointment" Not a single cloud in the sky, and SUCH a SCORCHER! Almost 30 degrees heat outside! Summer is definitely teasing us with heated days like today!
Wednesdays around our office are called "hump" days. I can see why they call it that because it's the middle of the week, the "hump" to get over to get to the weekend. I don't really like the word "hump" day because it gives me some weird connotations. Then again, one has to be careful when using the work "hump" when one works with 12 womens either way!! BAHAHAHAHAA!
Vince McMahon and the WWF tried to go head to head against the NBA. Guess who won? Well, it's not really the NBA, but at least the Pepsi Center in Denver. I would have told the NBA to switch to Sunday, but then again I don't own an arena! Yet!
Good retail news of the day: Nordstrom's has a bright optimistic outlook for 2009! Peter Nordstrom boasts that they sold 1,000,000 pairs of Uggs last Nov and Dec. I happen to know one friend of mine who bought one of those one million pairs for his wifey, and let's just say that "it wasn't me!".
Being a gear-head, this tee is pure Genius! I wanna get back on my "own" stuff soon!
I have a very weird feeling that this was staged by the NBA: Shaq's broken backboard is still the KILLER of them all, I just think that after the Kobe Show on Tuesday, the Magic felt like they needed a showstopper of their own. Hmmm....
This is just PRICELESS! "I can't wait to post this on Facebook!"
Uhhmmm..... Double U... Tee ... Eff???
Song of the Day: Momma Loves Me/Lost - Jay-Z x Coldplay (Viva La Hova)
Tuesday but it felt like Monday. Argh. I'm still exhausted from unpacking and I didn't really get a chance to do anything further on it tonight. Two reasons why: (1) new Eminem CD came out today (2) Punch Out for Wii came out today! Copped the new Em right away and ripped it right into the iTunes. So typical, yet so necessary. Funny how technology has changed the way we do things these days. No matter what you tell me, iTunes will never be better than a CD with a CD booklet in it. Never, not no never not ever never. Listening to the new CD, it's like listening to an old friend you haven't seen for 5 years and hearing him tell you 5 year's worth of stories just like it was old times. He's not trying to spin you a different story, he's not trying to show you his "artistic side", and he's not using AutoTune. If you don't like Em, I don't blame you. It takes a certain thickness of skin to listen and comprehend his lyrics, and even be able to stomach the delivery of his flow. He's not for everyone, that's for sure, but with 60 million records sold worldwide, he might be on to something here. I've only listened to the album once through, but the from the first run, this sounds like another classic Marshall Mathers hit maker. I'll get deeper into it with a few more spins I'm sure.
What I really wanted to do tonight was get my inner GEEK on and play Punch Out for Wii! KUDOS to the folks over at Nintendo! They got this one just right! Enough of the old-school original flavor for the 80's kids who remember the characters, their tricks, and the storyline! Just enough action and reflexes for the new-school kids who need a better boxing game than the one that comes with Wii Sports! Little Mac returns, along with the host of characters (minus Kid Dynamite Mike Tyson of course). Currently, I'm stuck on Great Tiger, with a record of 6-8 and just about ready to throw my Wii remote controller through my TV screen!! I think I'm gonna play the two-player mode with Leonidas!! GEEEKED!!
Join in my dude Benny Bing's campaign for 4-day work weeks!! I dunno bout you, but I'm sure once you sign up for the petition, the Gub'ment will be watching you!! Buyer beware!
